UPDATE: Wow; how nice that someone actually read my diary. It's amazing what one has to do to get noticed around here. In the end, my point is that I think way too much energy is being spent to "get Joe". Obama is not going to be focused on retribution, but on getting this country working again. So for all you obsessed individuals, get used to the idea that things are going to be different from now on. We'll have a president who actually wants to work with everyone, not just those who agree with him. Gee, sure wish this site was like that.
hat the hell has happened to this place since Tuesday, Nov. 4th? I mean, we won, right? So then why all the griping? Let's fight about Nadar! Ridiculous; he ran, he got some votes, he lost, the end. Let's fight about Hillary; give it a rest; the primaries are long gone; let's begin to heal. But the worst: let's take action to get Lieberman thrown out of the Dem. caucus or off as chair of the Homeland Security Committee. Really? More venting below the fold.
Did Joe Lieberman act badly? Yes, of course. Did he say things he shouldn't have said? Yes, but then, so do a lot of politicians involved in a heated campaign. Should he be forgiven? HELL YES!
Look, folks, how can the Obama administration work with moderate Republicans if he can't even work with a conservative Democrat? Obama promised to work with people across the aisle; doesn't that include Lieberman?
Lieberman was an early friend of newcomer Barack Obama in the Senate. Obama stood beside Lieberman during his fight to win back his seat as an Independent. There is a history here that should not be thrown out just because of words spoken on the campaign trail.
What did Lieberman say that wasn't already said by Hillary Clinton during the primaries? In fact, I'd say that Hillary said far worse things than Joe Lieberman, and yet she may well be the next Secretary of State in the Obama administration, the OBAMA administration.
Live and let live, people. Trust in the Obama. He is way, way smarter than anyone on this blog; he knows what he's doing. Give him the benefit of the doubt.
Joe is a good man, beyond the obvious shortcomings. Hell, we nominated him as our VP candidate only 8 years ago. That guy is still with us, and he should be included under our big tent approach. I know it is easy to hate, and there certainly is every reason to do so in Lieberman's case, but that is not Obama's way; it shouldn't be our way either.
So yes, vent, fume, rant, rave, but then cool down and take a stress pill; then open the pod bay doors, Hal, cause Lieberman's coming back onto the ship, even if he has to use the manual air lock to do so.
Obama is right on this one. Open your minds and I think you'll agree.
Okay, falme away.
