This will be a short diary but it was important to get out there...
President-elect Obama has decided to tap Eric Holder as his attorney general, putting the veteran Washington lawyer in place to become the first African-American to head the Justice Department, according to two legal sources close to the presidential transition.

The selection is going to be publicly announced right now however. Newsweeks says Holder has to be formally vetted.
For those of you who do not know much about Holder he is 57 years old from the Bronx. He got his BA and JD from Columbia. He was appointed U.S. Attorney for DC under Clinton in 1993 and was on the people in charge of Obamas vetting process for VP.
I personally think this is a great pick. The other people on the short list were Governor Janet Napolitano and Governor Deval Patrick. Napolitano would have made it so that a Republican becomes Governor if she were to leave, and Deval Patrick has not been Governor for a long period of time, it would be better if he became better established. So overall I think it is great
I am curious what everyone else thinks of this pick...
