Ok, it has already been proven that Obama is smarter than most of us. Let's think outside the box. Joe is currently in a leadership position in the Senate. (It pains me to write that.) What if Obama saw this coming and already has a smart and well thought out ambassador position waiting in the wings?
I do not think there is anybody more deserving of a position of US Ambassador. Where would he like to go? The world is your oyster, Joe. I would support his appointment to any new ambassadorship.
Would you like to become US Ambassador to Tahiti? I hear it is warm and sunny year round. How about Ambassador to the Netherlands? Ronald Arnall, the former ambassador and founder of Ameriquest, has set the bar low enough that even you can leap over it.
How about the real plum assignment, Ambassador to Israel? Would his hawkish views cause more problems over there than his appointment would be worth? I do not know but surely, somewhere in this great big world of ours, there is an ambassadorship just waiting for Joe Lieberman. This is just the type of win/win resolution that will unite Democrats.
Fellow Kossacks, where do you think is the most useful/least harmful ambassadorship for Joe Lieberman?
UPDATE: My current favorite is Mali, whose capital is Timbuktu. This could be bad news for current US Ambassador Gillian A. Milovanovic. (Then again, she was only sworn in on September 26, 2008 and she has already seen Macedonia, South Africa and Sweden on her Bush embassy tours.) Not to rain on the parade but the embassy is actually in Bamako, not Timbuktu.
