Today in Iowa, I.C.E. (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement) carried out two separate raids on a pair of Chinese Restaurants, both owned by the same family.
The raids took place in the towns of Tama (pop. 2,587) and Vinton (pop. 5,102). The raid or 'ongoing investigation' arrested 4 individuals deemed to be working illegally in the United States. Three were from Mexico and the fourth was Chinese.

The alarming part of this story is not the fact that illegal immigrants are being arrested, but the way in which these arrests and 'raids' took place today.
According to my mother who lives in the neighboring town, the State Troopers entered the restaurant and ordered all occupants to drop their forks, knives, and chopsticks and exit through the front door. The State Police, along with agents from ICE then proceeded to arrest the 'suspected illegals'. They carried out the arrest during LUNCH!!
Clearly they aimed to send a message, don't fuck with the US Gov't. or else "we'll getcha, and your little dog American Dream TOO".
Imagine the scene, a lunch crowd told to leave their plates behind so that the 'Cowboys' can serve up a platter of American Justice.
The same family has owned and operated a version of their restaurant in Iowa for over 15 years. 15 years. My parents make a 35-minute drive every Friday night to enjoy the Chinese food. They go so often they consider the owner a personal friend.
It is now locked, and customers are being told to go elsewhere.
This is George Bush's Mainstreet. This is American Justice? Give me a break. I understand that these individuals were working illegally in the US, but why during the LUNCH HOUR? Law enforcement walking in and telling people to stop eating and exit the restaurant so they can do what??? Arrest Two People who were WORKING.
This family has worked their asses off to make it and to be embarrassed like this.
These are towns of less than 7,000 people. Main street is not endless blocks of booming businesses. 'Main Street' is a restaurant like Peony in Vinton, Iowa.
