As we sprint to the end of this marathon campaign, it is well worth taking a moment to reflect back on where we started, on how far we've come, and on the judgment day that stands before us. It doesn't really matter whether you call that moment reflection, meditation, or prayer...so long as you take that moment to take stock of yourself and your place in history.
Two very different songs capture this moment for me. Up until now, I heard them both as battle cries to action. But tonight, on the eve of this election, they sound more like prayers.
Here are words from the first (with sincerest apologies to One Day More from "Les Miserables"):
One day more
One more day before the storm!
At the barricades of freedom.
When our ranks begin to form,
Will you take your place with me?
The time is now.
The day is here.
One more day to revolution
One day to a new beginning
One day more!
Raise the flag of freedom high.
There's a new world for the winning.
There's a new world to be won.
Do you hear the people sing?
Tomorrow is the judgment day.
Tomorrow we'll discover
What our God in heaven has in store.
One more dawn.
One more day.
One day more!

The second piece is even more familiar to most of us: will.i.am's "Yes We Can." When I first watched this in February, I was moved to tears. The 8 months since have been a blur of activism and commitment. But I hadn't seen it in a while. When I watched it again today, I saw it as our prayer for Tuesday and beyond.
So please, take a moment to watch it again...but this time in reflection, meditation, and prayer:
