Well, it just wouldn't be south Texas without a little drama and flair. In today's installment of the "Gitmo Dress Rehearsal", Willacy County prosecutor Juan Angel Guerra has apparently gone missing in action. That's right folks! Missing.

RAYMONDVILLE — Willacy County prosecutor Juan Angel Guerra stumped a presiding judge and attorneys for clients as high up as Vice President Dick Cheney when he failed to show up to court on his own grand jury’s indictments.
The no-show infuriated attorneys who’d spent the day milling about with what they’d hoped would be slam-dunk motions to quash the cases.
And it put Presiding Judge Manuel Bañales in a position he said he’d never been in before.
"At the very least I expected the district attorney to be here," Bañales said, asking Guerra’s office manager, "Do you know where he is?"
Do you know where he is?
Heck, not even the Texas Rangers do!
CASE UPDATE: Texas Rangers hunt Guerra after he fails to show for Vice President Cheney's 1st criminal hearing

The infamous Texas Rangers were ordered by Presiding District Judge J. Manuel Banales to find AWOL lame duck District Attorney Juan Angel "Johnny" Guerra on Wednesday afternoon, after he failed to show for a criminal hearing for Vice President Dick Cheney's and former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales's pre-arraignment hearing in Raymondville.
---
Judge Banales, who arrived an hour late for the hearing without an excuse or apology, sternly told over a dozen anxious attorneys, "That's enough - I'm not going to entertain any motions today without a representative of the State of Texas present."
"I beg the court to deviate from the normal process," Canales said. "This is not the usual type of case where indictments are made," referring to Guerra's actions. "I've been here all day inquiring where is Mr. Guerra."
-----
"Mr. Guerra lied to us - He told us he was not going to reindict," said Oliviera angrily. "I want him here to answer why he lied to us. Where is he? - He talked to the national media Tuesday night and then isn't here today."
Mr. Guerra, where in blessed Texas are you?
There is any even more entertaining back story to this as well.
More to come as this develops.
