To break the monotony of a Friday afternoon, and unable to participate fully in the joy that is Mojo Friday, I ask you to join me in discussing your inaugural plans.
First of all - we (Mr. Phoebe1st, Phoebe and myself) are all going. We reserved our hotel room at Midnight, after our champagne bottle was empty, and the next day we bought our Amtrak Tickets. So we are all set on that front. We will arrive on Sunday the 18th and stay in town until Thursday. That way we can get in a little sightseeing on Wednesday.
The next step was to contact our congressional delegation - so I bit my lower lip, sucked it up, and telephoned Olympia Snowe's Portland office, and had a very nice conversation with them. We were the FIRST ones to call her office in Portland, so at least we're on that list. Collins' office was next. They had many calls and told us our chances were not too great, but he put us on the list anyway. Finally, I didn't know whether to call Tom Allen (who is now unemployed) or Chellie Pingree (who probably had more important things to worry about than swearing in tickets) - so I left it to the Senators to find us a couple of seats (and room for a stroller) for the swearing in.
So, now to the networking! Who here is going to DC? Who is already there? Anybody planning any cool parties for the DKOS family? I wonder if Markos has rented a ballroom somewhere and is just waiting to drop the news that we are all invited to join him as we celebrate the Obama/Biden administration on January 20th.
We would love to hook up with anyone who plans to be in the neighborhood of Capitol Hill that week. Please share with us all of your inauguration plans - even if it means sitting in front of your TV in Dubuque!
Happy weekend everyone!
