Is this the UAW Union you joined? The Union leadership are thinking they should keep the senior member pay, perks and layoff the new workers. The Jr. Union workers UAW want to layoff are the ones with the least seniority, lowest legacy cost and least perks on the job; these are the members UAW parade before the public to illustrate how the union compromised in negotiation. Union pay scale is based on seniority, therefore the people with the highest seniority has the highest legacy cost and perks. Listen to the Union president and senior members, they want to keep the highest legacy cost, most senior, oldest members with highest numbers of perks and layoff the youngest workers.
- The legacy cost includes perks is between $72.00 to $78.00 per hour for a high school graduate working the assembly line.
- The legacy cost includes up to 20% absentee days without question. These senior union members can get drunk and miss one day a week and still keep their jobs.
- They oldest and most senior union workers still have job banks, where they can receive up to one years of wages without working. ...and if they work again the clock restarts, effectively they can work 6 months, get laid off for a year and still receive full pay at $72-$78 per hour.
- The most senior union workers also get the most number of vehicles they can purchase off the big three auto companies at cost. For all effective purpose, this is a back door for them to make extra cash by selling the car behind the back door. For each car these senior members remove from the lot at cost, it cost two sales for the car company and dealership.
- The most senior union workers are the ones with the pensions, medical and special perks.
Were these the workers or jobs, America and the less senior union workers wanted to save? Remember these members are voting to layoff the less senior members of the unions so they can keep their perks. The starting union workers and those in less senior positions and less on the hierarchy in the union organization only get $15.00 per hours and none of the above perks. The Jr. members of the unions are the ones the union is holding before the public; yet everyone know it’s the senior one that have the legacy costs that are bankrupting the car companies.
The senior union workers want to hold these less senior workers hostage. They don’t want to cut their perks so it’s no longer about the jobs; it’s about the senior union members keeping their pay and perks.
The Democrats are hoping they can save jobs and lots of jobs by cutting the wages sligthly. The senior union members want to cut jobs and keep their pay and perks.
