In approximately one hour from now, The Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center will have a town hall meeting regarding PROP 8 strategies, open to the public, and open to the cyber-community online (LIVE). People from all over the world are welcome to watch and participate. I knew this would be of interest to the KOS community, so even though this is not a diary per-se, I believed it would be beneficial to post this. The link to the online townhall meeting is listed in the text of the following email I received, which includes other links and FAQS that I found rather useful.
I have copied the email below, but have removed the first and last names of the panelists to protect them from the trolls and ill-intentioned lurkers on the Internet (I know that may sound excessive but there are a lot of hateful bigots on the net).
I was going to go to participate in person, but since its supposed to rain here, I think I'll participate online. I hope to see many of you there!
Here is the email:
Hi, Center Supporter,
Much has happened since our heartbreaking loss on Nov. 4, and much has been said and written about it. And since that day, people
around the country--even the globe--have shared our rage and
sadness; rage over a loss of our civil rights, and anger and
frustration that we weren't able to defeat this ballot
initiative. I'm heartened by the action and passion of so
many people since our loss on election day and excited about what this
portends for our movement's future. At the same time,
I'm devastated knowing that my efforts and those of the
other No on 8 campaign leaders and professionals hired to run the
campaign weren't enough to protect our freedom to marry in
California.
Tonight (Tuesday, Nov. 25) evening at 6 p.m. there will be a town
hall meeting, moderated by Frontiers/IN Magazine News Editor Karen
Ocamb, to answer your questions regarding the campaign and to discuss the future in our fight for full equality. To facilitate
participation by panelists in multiple cities and to make it
accessible to a worldwide audience, it will be a virtual meeting in
which you can hear the panelists via webcast and direct questions to
the moderator live or in advance at: TownHallModerator@gmail.com. To join the meeting, visit: www.lagaycenter.org/Prop8TownHall. If you aren't able to participate live, it will be recorded so you can listen at another
time.
In addition to me, the panelists include:
