Whenever we talk about Jim Martin in Dairies or on the front page no analysis is complete without declaring 'Martin needs blacks and Obama can deliver blacks so Jim should grovel at Obama and Obama should come to Georgia.'
- Georgia needs to pick the person who best serves Georgia. That should be the base argument.
- Saying blacks will vote for whoever Obama points to is a sentiment that lacks faith in the judgement of black people.
- If Jim wants to represent Georgia he'll need win Georgia. If we assume someone else wins it for him then he'll owe them their seat.
- Chambliss is a douchebag.
Firstly as democrats we are the party of values and ideas. We have great values and then we pick people who do the best job going after those ideas. Obama in himself is a man and thus fallible. If we make our argument to black people: vote for the guy who is like you then we disrespect the black community
1. Georgia needs to pick the person who best serves Georgia. That should be the base argument.
We are the party of values and ideas. We have great values and then we pick people who do the best job representing those ideas. A man in office isn't our goal, it's the ideas in office that we want. Jim Martin represents great values for georgia while Chambliss is a sell-out.
2. Saying blacks will vote for whoever Obama points to is a sentiment that lacks faith in the judgement of black people.
When Obama ran a respectful campaign the natural political operative assumption was that negative personal attack ads were going to kill him cause a respectful campaign is too soft. But with a little faith in people the campaign decided to be present on every media and strongly and respectfully respond. Over the long run the tactic gained ground on people. By analogy Mr. Martin should not assume black people will vote for the black guy's friend. He should present his argument everywhere and reference values he has. And say 'Barack happens to have many of the same values and that's why he's cut a radio ad for this campaign.
3. If Jim wants to represent Georgia he'll need win Georgia. If we assume someone else wins it for him then he'll owe them their seat.
Jim is running this in race. The deciding factor isn't whether President Obama decides to apply his middas touch. It's whether Jim Martin runs a campaign that connects to his voters. If Jim's good enough he can convince Obama, Clinton, Warner to come down and campaign for him. point being: Jim's got to win this.
4. Chambliss is a douchebag.
No analysis here. Just wanted to say it.
Bottom line: Let's believe in Georgia's people's ability to choose. And Jim Martin is a good man, he doesn't need Obama's pity. He's got a strong chance because he represents great values. Hopefully he can his message out and the people of Georgia will respond
Let's have a little more faith.
