As the run-off election in Georgia approaches the Republicans flog a dubious motive for re-electing Chambliss.
The tattered remnants of the national Republican party are flocking to Georgia to preserve that precious forty-first Senate vote that guarantees them the ability to thwart the Obama Administration's ability to rescue and reform the economy. The Republicans are blatant about their desires to throw gravel in the transmission of the engine of government.
The Chambliss vote represents their ability to block national health care, banking reform and judicial appointments, and they will not relinquish their ability to filibuster Democratic programs without a viscous fight. This is life or death for the future of the Republican party, so all the heavy (?) hitters of the GOP are flying into Atlanta. McCain, Rudy and Sarah the governor are meeting with Romney and Huckabee to rally the locals to pry up the tracks on which Obama's success depends.
Martin is within the MoE, but on the weak side of the polls. GA is turning blue, but not fast enough to guarantee we won't have two years of gridlock that dooms the new President's administration before he is even sworn in. The GOP's motto is "Rule or Ruin", and since they can't rule.............
