This will be a short diary and so I will be pilloried and asked to delete the diary. So be it!
We just got a door hanger dropped on our front door knob by the Obama campaign here in Minneapolis. The hanger is about 18 inches long and is a glossy piece of campaign literature. It is based on the basic design of all of the campaign literature (blue with white text and so on).
This is an amazing piece of campaigning and reflects the quality of the ground game, at least here in Minneapolis. Read on to see what we just got and then share your stories of what is happening in your neighorhood tonight in Minneapolis, the Twin Cities, in Minnesota, or anywhere else the ground game is doing its thing on the last night!
One side has a big picture of Obama, a reminder to VOTE OBAMA on TUESDAY NOV. 4TH and then the hours that polls are open and the the web site for the campaign.
The b side reminds you to vote Obama-Biden below a picture of the two of them and below that a reminder to vote Al Franken below a picture of him.
Below those reminders is a block with information (again) on polling hours and information on how to register to vote at the polls. Here in Minnesota we actually make voting easy, and so have the highest turnout in the country!
Finally, at the bottom of the b side is WHERE YOU VOTE, below which is the name and address of my polling place and the details of my precint. This last bit is printed on the glossy flier, not applied as a sticker.
Let me repeat that...
The Obama campaign, at least in Minneapolis, has door hangers printed with the details of the polling place for all precints. Based on my experience yesterday door knocking (138 doors by three of us!), these are only being dropped at known DFL (what we call the Democratic Party here) supporters and known Obama supporters. That takes organization and planning folks and is a great sign of the quality of the ground game that is going on, at least here.
As with all of the GOTV I have seen from the Obama campaign this week, the door hanger is so far beyond anything that I saw or took part in during 2002, 2004, or 2006 here in the Twin Cities. A great sign for tomorrow and the future!
