A poignant story regarding Madelyn Dunham from the great state of Hawaii.
Pointing out that Madelyn Dunham, Barack Obama's grandmother, had recently voted via absentee ballot, Eli Sanders of TheStranger.com wondered if the vote would now count after her passing.
Sanders called The Office of Elections in Hawaii and spoke to Chief Election Officer Kevin Cronin. Here's what Cronin had to say:
Ms. Dunham’s absentee mail ballot was received and reviewed under the Hawaii standards for processing absentee mail ballots... She was alive at that time. Her ballot will be opened tomorrow, and it will be counted in the same way that all absentee voters would be treated under our law.
Somewhere, in a better place, Toot is smiling knowing her vote for her grandson...her vote for change, will count.
Amen to that.
