I just returned from my polling location and my friend ran into a situation where his registration was marked as 'mail in', much to his surprise.
His surprise came from the fact that he and his wife registered together and she was fine and allowed to vote. *His previous presidential vote was a mail-in, that time intentionally and from another address.
At the poll they gave him the option of retrieving his mail-in or voting provisional. He ran home and was able to find the mail-in ballot, which had fortunately not been thrown away.
I did grow concerned when his sample ballot and the mail-in ballot didn't match up. The sample ballot he received was in-step with the actual ballot for our address. The order of the candidates for president was different and his mail-in ballot did not have a slot for our districts congressional vote.
We did speak to someone in the city's clerks office who seemed to give us every indication that his mail-in ballot was legit, but it seemed odd that both came to the same address and we're apparently from different voting districts.
The sample and our actual ballot had us voting for congressional district 33 and the mail-in had his congressional district as 31.
Does this seem normal? Am I being paranoid? Any advice or knowledge of why the sample ballot and mail-in would not contain the exact same voting choices, such as the congressional candidates. They both came to the same address. ??
