We are witnessing a historic moment in time. We have a unique opportunity to bring community values to the table in the mandate for change President-elect Obama brought forth. 2,000 community organizers from across the country will be coming together in our nation’s capitol for Realizing the Promise: A Forum on Community Faith and Democracy to set the people’s agenda for the coming administration.
Join us for a live webcast of the event in Washington, DC moderated by Juan Williams of NPR on Thursday, December 4th from 3-6 PM at www.realizingthepromise.org.
This event will bring together dedicated people who organize underprivileged and underserved communities to have a dynamic conversation with members of Congress, President-elect Obama’s administration, and each other. This election proved the power of the people, and it is organizing that will build powerful relationships.
Confirmed guests include senior members of Obama's transition team Valerie Jarrett and Melody Barnes, as well as Congress’s new leaders, including Rep. Luis Gutierrez, (D-IL, Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), Rep. John Sarbanes (D-MD) and Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD). Together, we will bring forward a new direction that includes the ideas and values which will get our nation back on track and make America work for all people.
This is our time as a community for OUR voice to be heard.
