Here's a kid's point of view on the current political situation.
I thought that maybe the Kos community could come up with a bunch of ideas to help her with her concerns. She makes some very good points in her letter.
... I'm kind of going crazy tonight after watching the news, hearing about the governor of Illinois trying to auction of Barack Obamas spot, the CEO's of fannie mae and freddie mac, and the economy everyday, I'm going nuts.
I think our country is awesome like you do, but I think we have our heads in all the wrong places. People value all the wrong things. They value laziness, looks, and money. Like the CEO's of fannie mae and freddie mac and the governor say they did nothing wrong. Everyone has become so obsessed with looks and so greedy with money, its making me sick. Like everyone my age is so shallow because our whole society is focused on the wrong things. This country was built off of hard workers. This country has always been a country of hardworking people, but now its the opposite. No one wants to work hard anymore. And like Obama getting elected is great! But i'm scared because I think the whole country is depending on him to fix the economy, for him to bring all the jobs back, for him end the war, for him to fix everything. And really, Obama is a very smart man, but you can't tell me he's going to fix everything. We have to do it. Thats the way its always been done. The american people have to do it. And honestly it won't be my generation, we're all to lazy.
I really feel like there's something i need to do. I can't explain it all the way, but if I sit here and watch our sociey become focussed on the wrong things and our country fall apart everyday on the news and don't do anything about it, aren't I as bad and the people ruining it? I dont know what, but I need to do something ...
So Kos members.
What can a high schooler do? Let's give her a bunch of ideas.
