Even warren seems to understand Obama...while some fail to do in dailykos...
Remember Mahatma gandhi?
His fight against British? His fight for the so called untouchables sudras of his time?
India had caste system where the lower caste where called untouchables by upper caste people..Gandhi fought for lower caste people but he took upper caste along with him...he made them believe in him...he educated upper caste people...
To educate someone WHO NEED TO MAKE THEM HEAR YOU AND TO MAKE THEM HEAR YOU FIRST YOU NEED TO MAKE THEM BELIEVE YOU AND TO MAKE THEM BELIEVE YOU NEED TO TAKE THEM ALSO IN YOUR ACTIONS/CONSIDERATIONS...taking Warren is a bold step...and this step will send messages to millions of those who dont believe in gay rights a message..a message that obama is not someone who is totally against their views..he will hear them and Obama wants them to hear him too...What more bigger platform can obama choose to bring gay issues to the forefront with out taking away those who dont support him?
Are we seeing some signs?
Pastor Warren statement on Obama inaugural invocation invitation
Statement by Dr. Rick Warren, Pastor of Saddleback Church
Regarding the Invitation from President-elect Obama to Deliver
the Inaugural Invocation
Lake Forest, Calif., Dec. 18, 2008
"I commend President-elect Obama for his courage to willingly take enormous heat from his base by inviting someone like me, with whom he doesn't agree on every issue, to offer the Invocation at his historic Inaugural ceremony.
Hopefully individuals passionately expressing opinions from the left and the right will recognize that both of us have shown a commitment to model civility in America.
The Bible admonishes us to pray for our leaders. I am honored by this opportunity to pray God's blessing on the office of the President and its current and future inhabitant, asking the Lord to provide wisdom to America's leaders during this critical time in our nation's history."
Obama held firm, saying an important premise of his entire campaign was that different sides can disagree on some issues without being disagreeable and unable to work together on others. After all, last spring he claimed he attended the Rev. Jeremiah Wright's church for 20 years while disagreeing with his radical sermons, which he also said he hadn't heard.
He said he maintains his consistent support for equal rights for gays and lesbians. And he's not changing his choice of who gives the opening prayer at his historic Inauguration on the Capitol steps the morning of Jan. 20.

My comments:
We need to accept and understand the fact that we lost prop 8 Which means majority of people voted against our wishes! Whatever we say, whatever we argue thats the truth!
Nearly half or more than half the country THAT VOTES will vote against gay rights that is because half the country is conservative in its ideas/have a misconception about gays/ believe marriage is only between man and women...
I am from a conservative Hindu family from India but i believe gays have equal rights as others do...how do i come to that conclusion?
I had a strong anti gay view an year before but it took me hours in net and loads and loads of articles to understand how bad i was in my thinking!
When i was educated about the issue i understood and supported it...and to educate someone WHO NEED TO MAKE THEM HEAR YOU AND TO MAKE THEM HEAR YOU FIRST YOU NEED TO MAKE THEM BELIEVE YOU AND TO MAKE THEM BELIEVE YOU NEED TO TAKE THEM ALSO IN YOUR ACTIONS/CONSIDERATIONS...taking Warren is a bold step...and this step will send messages to millions of those who dont believe in gay rights a message..a message that obama is not someone who is totally against their views..he will hear them and Obama wants them to hear him too...What more bigger platform can obama choose to bring gay issues to the forefront with out taking away those who dont support him?
We have a president who openly supports our issue and we have a president who doesnt shut down others belief and goes one sided.
We cant say 'hey all those who doesnt believe get out..' we need those people who are against gay rights to understand why we are in support of it...Obama is making sure the other side doesnt feel let off...our president who supports gay rights is asking the one who doesnt support it to perform during his D day...What better????
This will give obama an opportunity to reach out to the other side..this will give obama an opportunity to put before them what he believes...and they will hear him because he doesnt leave them alone...as bush and others let us for so many years...
