Much has been made (with good cause) of Warren's involvement in the Prop 8 battle in California; and with some of his comments in recent interviews equating same-sex marriage with marriage between adults and children and brother and sister.
In my opinion though, his Hannity-inspired comments about Michael Schiavo require more than just a "reasonable people can disagree" excuse. They really should require an apology if he his to be taken seriously from anyone outside his base.
From Hardball March 25, 2005:
MATTHEWS: So why is he doing this, do you think?
WARREN: I have no idea. Well, I don‘t know.
There‘s 1,000 reasons could you speculate. What if she came back out of the—out of this state and had something to say that he didn‘t want said?
That's the very Hannity/Robertson/Fallwell-like slander that is so outrageous. It's personal and pure speculation--without any foundation--and vicious. (He also buys into all the other idiocy put forth by the wingnuts surrounding this issue: She smiles, she tries to talk, she can be cured, etc.)
Shame on you, Rick Warren!
How do these guys get away with this?
