I also tried this with Caroline Kennedy, but although she has a possible ghost presence here now, it ain't doin much. Silly, just like the rest of Knickerbocker SKD's mismanagement of her.
Maybe Jerrold Nadler might work better. He seems to have a decent grip on holding Busharama accountable, after all...
(I've noted Kos' jones for Nad on the front page today, although I've been thinking about writing this diary for a while before that.)
Anyway, if J. Nad wants into the Senate, he might want to
- portray himself as a counterweight to the flaccid Harry Reids of the Senate;
- get a voice of his own in the Internet world IMMEDIATELY, e.g., here;
(more below)
- come up with a specifically progressive agenda (e.g., an official Congressional censure of Bush/Cheney for all their misdeeds, along with his "independent counsel" stuff; protecting gay civil marriages; hastening Iraq withdrawal and the cancellation of Bush tax cuts for the rich).
Can he handle it?
And if so, how to get him here?
Well, his chief of staff is Amy Rutkin, and here's her e-mail, amy.rutkin@mail.house.gov, and here's a sample script for you to use--tweak it as you like--if you want Jerry N to be responsive to this community and other progressive communities:
[subject line: What does Jerrold have to offer progressives?]
Dear Amy Rutkin:
I am an active Democrat who'd like to see what Jerrold Nadler has to offer as a Senate candidate. I invite him to join, and post on, Daily Kos, the premier Democratic blog, like Governor David Paterson does, to see if he can deal with answering progressive activists' questions, to see if he has a progressive agenda (e.g., official Congressional censure of Bush/Cheney for their poor behavior; protecting gay civil marriages; making the Iraq withdrawal and the cancellation of Bush tax cuts for the super-rich both happen quickly; etc.), and to see what he has to offer that other politicians don't.
If the governor of New York can handle it, so can he, and I look forward to his first diary there. Of course, if Congressman Nadler somehow can not handle it, perhaps Governor Paterson would do better to choose someone who is able to handle it. Thanks and good luck,
Sincerely and best wishes,
[your name]
He should be posting here, frankly, even if Paterson chooses someone else to be Senator. He should be posting here because he should desire to be a progressive, connected to progressive communities like this one, in an age when too many things have been regressive.
Anyway, let him hear from you, immediately; it might be to his benefit, to this site's benefit, to your benefit (or gratification), and to the country's benefit. Let it rip.
