Hi. I am going to post Inauguration updates now and again. This is for information purposes only. I think Obama made a mistake picking Rick Warren, and I don't agree with his choice. But I am super excited about going to the Inauguration. If you are pissed at Obama, I would appreciate you taking the complaints to another diary. Peace.
This should be fun. We are making the tip to D.C. for the Inauguration. We is my husband and a KC Obama staffer. We are meeting both my sisters and my aunt and uncle.
I am really excited but very nervous about being around that many people. I am doing as much prep work as possible as to avoid what crowds that I can and truly enjoy the day.
Souvenir Watch. The Obama Periscope:
I admit it - I bought one. It's sitting in my office along with my Obama doll. I am not sure it's going to work or if I am even going to bring it because I am also planning on wearing my Obama hat.
If you are staying in Maryland and planning to ride the MARC to Union Station, please buy your tickets now. Tickets can be bought here. I think there is a possibility that these trains will be sold out and folks from Maryland and staying in Maryland will be shit out of luck getting downtown. The first two trains back to my train stop are already sold out and so is the train at 7:00 a.m. The tickets went on sale five days ago.
If you are around Chicago, you can reserve a room on an old-time train to travel to the Inauguration. Put on by American Rail Excusions, you get the trip out there and your own sleeping car. In cars with names such as the Henry Hudson and the Silver Quail, riders will have a personal chef, tuxedoed wait staff and private bedrooms with enclosed bathrooms. Price Tag - $2559 per person. Little out of my price range. Ha!
Plan Accordingly. Even if the transit agency carries 1 million people on Jan. 20 -- and that could be a conservative estimate -- that means there would be one bathroom for every 6,849 customers. The restrooms will be closed inside the Metro stations but there will be port-a-potties. Will we see official Inaugural Stadium Pals?

I am still hopeful about getting tickets, but I doubt I will be in Sections One or Two! Ha.
Congratulations to Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill for being selected to be an Honorary Co-Chair. I bet she just got allotted more tickets! Please remember my hard work on your campaign!
