Last week, Bristol Palin's soon-to-be mother-in-law Sherry Johnson was arrested on felony drug charges. Given Wasilla's status as the Meth Capital of Alaska it is surprising that Johnson's drug of choice is Hillbilly Heroin. But hey, given the tough economic times, drug dealers have to evolve their business models as well. If Sherry didn't branch out into selling new forms of addictive narcotics in Wasilla, who would?
As if the arrest and subsequent media attention surrounding the case wasn't enough.....................
Yep, you guessed it. As with all things Sarah Palin, there's more.
The case against Sherry Johnson started in September, when a package containing 179 OxyContin tablets was intercepted by drug investigators. The suspects arrested in connection with the package agreed to become police informants. Johnson was arrested on December 18th after sending text messages to the informants discussing the drug transactions. According to the arrest affidavit, there are video and voice recordings of two of Johnson's drug transactions with the informants.
The part of this story that doesn't sit well with me is the last part of this story. According to the Huffington Post, the arrest of Sherry Johnson, Bristol Palin's future mommy-in-law was delayed due to the election.
The trooper's affidavit indicates that Sarah Palin's candidacy factored into the investigation, with state officials delaying execution of a search warrant until this month, when Johnston was "no longer under the protection or surveillance of the Secret Service."
It has been rumored that the McCain campaign started handling the affairs of the state of Alaska shortly after Sarah Palin was named John McCain's running mate. This is not an unusual action when governors run for national office. The rumor was denied by John Katz, spokesperson for Sarah Palin saying, "the governor has made it clear that she is in charge, she's in touch and all the gubernatorial decisions are going past her." Given the fact the Alaska legislature said the McCain campaign interfered with the Troopergate investigation, it is doubtful what the role of the campaign was in Alaska state business at the time.
Having the arrest of Sherry Johnson, which would have been a major scandal during the general election, delayed would have been the call of someone from the Alaska State Trooper's office. You might recall that the head of the State Trooper's office, Walt Monegan, was fired by Palin, which subsequently led to Troopergate. Guess who got to pick Monegan's replacement? None other than Caribou Barbie herself, governor Sarah Palin. Was someone in the State Trooper's office pulling strings or doing favors for Palin in the Sherry Johnson case?
UPDATE: LOL, so I sound pretty OH NOEZ!! ALERT ALERT!! here. I do that some times ;)
My question is this:
Did the McCain campaign and/or Sarah Palin know about the impending arrest of Sherry Johnson and have it delayed until after the election? Inquiring minds want to know.
