I am 17, I work a part-time job as a cashier making $6.50 and hour, and I plan to donate the next few paychecks to the Red Cross. But I want to know, is there more that I can do to raise money?
At school, I decided, to do a bake sale. I sold brownies on my own and raised $25 in one day! I plan to continue to do that for the next few weeks, but I need ideas on how to raise more than that much a day.
The idea of selling baked goods to raise money will work, I think, anywhere. At one's work, neighbors, ect. Maybe if we have a national bake sale to fundraise we could do a lot of good.
The largest thing I have found in fundraising in the past, asking for straight out donations almost never work unless there is some incentive, like a tax break. The way I have marketed it is that the brownie is the material gain while the fact of their money going directly to the Red Cross is a psychological gain.
I know that a lot of the members of the DailyKos community have donated thousands of dollars, it makes me want to become even more of a member of a community that works so hard to make so much good. Please, if anyone has any other ideas or critiques to my strategy, please let me know ASAP!!!
