You know who's really experienced by HRC's standards? Dick Cheney for sure, Dubya? eight years is a lot of time in the job. Those two would surely be ready on Day One, why not just have four more years? Results, judgment, they don't count. Only years on God's Green Earth and particularly trudging the path of experience between the Capitol, the White House and K Street. Why that's the best experience of all!
Also another presidential quality that every aspirant should have: good ole Gordon Gecko type Greed! Guess who's got that in abundance. Correct, Bill and Hill! Eight years in the White House and a lifetime as the dominant generation is certainly just a start for more to come. Why move over and give another generation a chance at maybe changing the world to one that they can survive in? Look at America, 2008 and realize that the scene you see is more than just the result of an aberration in Florida in 2000 or a Supreme Court that plays by clubhouse rules. It's more than just the excesses of one George W. Bush. Just look at the Senate FISA debacle today, is that simply the failures of Dubya?
But let me stray back to staying on message: we are looking for experienced politicians. Oh yeah, Strom Thurmond had a lot, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi have quite a bit. Dianne Feinstein drips experience. Colin Powell? Now there's a fellow of great experience and he sure showed us how much it was worth at the UN! Oh and so what if Hillary and Bill had no experience worth bragging about in 1992 by 2000 they had plenty and we reaped the benefit of what they learned, no? Their achievement of universal healthcare was stunning and who can doubt the benefits of NAFTA and Workfare? Now all they ask is that we value experience and send them back to achieve all the wonderful goals they have and when they are done they will still be at the youthful age of only 72! Meanwhile, today's thirtysomethings without medical insurance or good jobs will then be fortysomethings, they better have medical coverage by then 'cause they'll need the mental health benefits to deal with a frustrated life of failure passed on by their father's generation: the experienced ones!
So by all means let us come to our senses and value HRC for her lifetime achievment award. We would have to be nuts to turn the country over to an unreliable, inexperienced, wild card like Barack Obama and all those wild eyed young people who literally smell a once in a lifetime chance to have a life in this fast declining country that the Clintons and the rest of us Sixty-Somethings from both sides of the aisle and pulpit have provided for them. By all means, long live EXPERIENCE!
