As i was watching the results from yesterday's primary i noticed something none of the pundits raised, which was record numbers come out againg for the Democrats than did the Republicans. I thought i would write these numbers down and share them with you.
First, overall votes combined for both republicans(Mike Huckleberry and John McCain.) and both Democrats(Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama). The total number of republicans that came out to vote last night was 692,807. For the Democrats it was 1,818,247. Almost three times the number of people that came out to vote for the republicans. Barack Obama's voters in MD alone eclipse both republicans in VA. Hillary Clinton in MD got more votes than did both republicans in the same state. In DC both Democratic candidates received 23 times more voters than the republicans. Twenty Three!!! Not only was the turnout extremely high in the Potomac primary, but this has been a trend that has been going on since the first voter were cast in this primary. While everyone is arguing over who won which vote and winners and losers..etc... The big story is the record turnout for the Democrats. I am an Obama fan, but i honestly think if Hillary wins him out, Democrats would still unite around her and come out and vote in record numbers. Although i am confident that any Democrat would win against McCain, i still dont take this election for granted. Remeber Florida in 2000.
