we need to be working our asses off. Yesterday I wrote a diary questioning the logic of why my candidate is not campaigning in Wisconsin until the weekend, while Barack will be there all week.
I wrote it because unlike some people, I call things as I see them, not as I want them to be. However, the diary ended up allowing certain, but not all Obama supporters to gloat and make immature comments, which was not the intention of the diary. Anyway, despite the losses Clinton suffered last night, I am not worried as one of her supporters. Now I was disturbed at her not campaigning in Wisconsin until Saturday, but I still see the nomination as hers to lose.
First let’s look at last night. I stated yesterday that anything other than a blowout would be a pleasant surprise to Hillary’s campaign. Well she got blownout as I stated she would. I said that with certainty because I live in this area. I was really confused to hear people say Hillary would win Virginia. Northern Virginia is almost like a totally different state than the rest of Virginia. The rest of Virginia might as well be South Carolina so I knew the black vote would crush Hillary. I heard a report where Virginia was the first southern state where Barack won the white male vote. The media should know better. If anyone here on Kos lives in this area, you know the reason Barack won the white male vote was because of the affluent liberal white males in Northern Virginia. I would not compare them to the white males in South Carolina and Georgia. Enough about last night, she got slaughtered we move on. Plus even Jesse Jackson won Virginia... relax, relax I’m just joking, although he really did win.
The reasons why I am not worried are pretty simple. I mentioned in my diary yesterday about what Rudy did in Florida comparing to what Hillary is doing in Texas and Ohio, but I failed to mention that Rudy hadn’t won anything yet. Hillary has won 4 of the biggest states, with Florida and Michigan up in the air. So the comparison doesn’t hold water. Also Hillary will win Texas and Ohio. I know people say "the more he campaigns" the better he does. Well great, but Barack still will not win Texas nor will he win Ohio, it is called demographics. The primaries have been decided by demographics so far, and I do not see that changing going further.
Now the Clinton hating media will have you believe that Barack will ride this momentum all the way to the nomination. He will start picking off Clinton supporters, his great speaking skills will enrapture more and more people and he will turn water into wine, blah, blah, blah. What the media and so many of Obama’s supporters don’t understand, is that a whole lot of Clinton supporters aren’t going anywhere for one reason and one reason only: Experience. I appreciate the difficulties Obama had as a child, (although as a black male, I thought Clarence Thomas growing up in dirt poor, segregated Georgia, with illiteracy all around him more inspirational), I understand how great it would be for him to be the first multi-racial person to be President, and I definitely understand how people are moved by his speeches, however that still does not qualify him to be President. Experience does matter, and he just does not have it. It is not his fault, but he just does not have any. The media can talk about movement this, movement that...but unless they can inject some experience in him, it does not matter. Voters who claimed to be inspired by him today, will say he did not have enough experience in November.
I read where someone was commenting on how old the cast surrounding McCain look at his victory celebration last night, well they are not Democrats. They are not caught up in aesthetics, slogans, chants, etc. they care about winning. And guess what? They picked the best candidate they had to offer to represent their party. In my opinion, Hillary is by far the best candidate Democrats have left to challenge for the Presidency. She has proven it is debates and in her plans she has laid out for America. This is not a knock against Obama at all, I just do not think he is ready. I think more and more Democrats will start asking themselves are they willing to risk nominating someone with no foreign policy experience to be our nominee to run against John McCain. Now Obama might can get away with anti-war rhetoric in the Democratic Primaries with the anti-war left, but in the fall it will be a totally different scenario. Furthermore, are Democrats willing to nominate a candidate who has never had a negative ad ran about him?
The bottom-line is Hillary’s base of support is solid in the big states she has to win, Michigan and Florida delegate are still out there, Obama still has much to prove and Hillary still has won New York, California, NJ and Ma. In other words, the nomination is still hers to lose. With that being said I encourage all 8 of Hillary's supporters here on Kos to work as hard we can to ensure that Hillary secures the nomination. We might be in the minority here on Kos, but we are definitely backing the right candidate. So let's work like Obama needs only 100 delegates to secure the nomination!! YES WE CAN!! My bad that's Baracks'. Hmmm....Solutions for American on DAY ONE!! Damn...we need to work on our slogans.
