Apologies to Stephen Colbert, but what a bloody mess this is! I had held off writing about this Primary season, but today I have reached a tipping point of such, like I think many of the Kos community.
In 2008 the party can celebrate together one fact, people, new people, have come out and voted for the first time in a Democratic Primary.
Amazing numbers of people have engaged in the process. These new voters are by and large voting for the new guy. If it wasn't for him, the numbers of votes would look like 2004, and Hillary would be the nominee, bashing her head against her "good friend" McCain by now.
But Hillary that isn't the reality. The rules changed, and the only thing you can do now, is to stuff it up.
Is it not obvious to the Clinton's, that there is no win for them now?
Hillary was once called polarising, I didn't understand why; know I know.
She would rather sink her own party at the general election, than drop out for unities sake.
She would hand the election and maybe the Senate to her friend McCain, rather than go back there and work with Obama on the policies for working Americans.
She would give rather give the motivation to Republican's and Independents (and maybe some passionate Obama supporters) to vote against her party, than just wait for another chance.
She would rather avoid the most graceful act and bow out now, saving the party from self destruction.
Is it not obvious that the person, who even made this Democratic Primary process so interesting, is Obama?
Is it not obvious that he will bring out the vote the party needs to help all its candidates in November?
Only Hillary can kill that, by continuing to fight, by threatening to divide the party, by bribing the super delegates with her powerful beltway elite and contradicting the name of the party she so wants to lead. She has said, she will still seek the nomination if she loses the popular vote, which was her cue to leave gracefully. I don’t think it has sunk it quite what that means, but it means her political death, Hillary is now the Emperor with no clothes.
See even if she doesn't get the nomination after all, she is right now, in these weeks creating a divided party, the half that lost, will stay at home, its obvious, and if it keeps on, day after day, everyone will lose.
That includes a world looking on in hope, that America can change, and once again be held high amongst all nations.
Only Hillary can end it.
