This is mt first diary, although I have been lurking on this site for over 2 years. Mostly reading the diaries from my cell phone on the packed trains in the morning. However I have been inspired to share something that recently happened.
Last week I experienced the change that is Barak Obama on people I never would have thought possible. Living here in Japan I dont get to experience the day to day television ads, the nightly news, the insane coverage. And yet, I have been touched by the Obama campain, and surprised its effect on die hard Republicans.
Follow me below the fold for the story..

I have been an Obama supporter since I first saw his speech in 2004. I said to my former partner, "That man will be President someday." after his speech was finished.
Now I am a consultant in Tokyo and most of the people I run into in my circle on the conservative (economically) side.
I received a phone call from an associate of mine (who I had made some pro-Obama comments to over a lunch meeting) and he said "TokyoProgressive, i have just done something I thought I would never do."
I was intrigued so I asked " And what would that be?"
He then paused, and replied "I donated $100 to Obama"
I was stunned, amazed and flabergasted.
He then went on to tell me he had seen a debate on Youtube and watched a few speeches and he was impressed.
Now this is a Harvard educated conservative who had never dreamed of the day he would vote for a Democrat, never mind donate his money.
The point is this. Obama is reaching people and influencing people that HRC simply can not. He is a candidate who can bring people together and heal our country.
Yes We Can.
