The Obama campaign has a consistent pattern of negative attacks on the Clintons dating back several months ago. Some examples below the fold with some analysis on how this might cost the Democratic party the general election.
Here are some examples of what Obama himself has said:
- Compared Bill Clinton's presidency to Nixon.
I think Ronald Reagan changed the trajectory of America in a way that Richard Nixon did not and in a way that Bill Clinton did not.

- Implied that Reagan was a better president than Clinton
He put us on a fundamentally different path because the country was ready for it. I think they felt like with all the excesses of the 1960s and 1970s and government had grown and grown but there wasn't much sense of accountability in terms of how it was operating. I think people, he just tapped into what people were already feeling, which was we want clarity we want optimism, we want a return to that sense of dynamism and entrepreneurship that had been missing.

- Called GOP the party of ideas in past 15 years while the Democratic party was not
The Republicans were the party of ideas for a pretty long chunk of time there over the last 10, 15 years

- Has called Bill Clinton a liar http://cayankee.blogs.com/...
Other disturbing issues:
- Michelle Obama is not sure if she would be willing to work to help Hillary win the general election if she is nominated http://www.theleftcoaster.com/...
- Obama campaign has urged the press to look more closely at Bill Clinton's personal life and make it an issue in the campaign
- Obama campaign issued a memo to the press accusing the Clintons of racism
- Obama campaign issued a memo calling Hillary the "Senator from Punjab". A remark I consider to be blatantly anti-Asian racist http://www.rediff.com/...
- Is Obama using sexist language against HRC?
Earlier this month, speaking at Tulane University, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, said this about the attacks coming his way from Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY:
"You challenge the status quo and suddenly the claws come out," Obama said.

The big question is: will Clinton supporters automatically switch their support to Obama in the general election? Or, has Obama soured some of the electorate with the anti-Clinton tone of his campaign? Will Clinton supporters give Obama only lukewarm support or could they even switch to McCain?
Could this be the reason that Obama's negative ratings are starting to reach alarming proportions, like in today's Rasmussen's poll.
Obama is viewed favorably by 54% and unfavorably by 44%.

Wow - Obama's negative ratings approaching 50%? Could this be because of Clinton supporters being offended by how he has ran his campaign?
Perhaps Obama should stop taking Hillary's voters for granted:
I’m confident I will get her votes if I am the nominee. It’s not clear that she would get the votes I got if she were the nominee. And that I think illustrates the potential difference in how we would run our campaigns.
