I am a student at Washington University in St. Louis, which is hosting Alberto Gonzales tomorrow for a speech here on campus. Due to my progressive views, an acquaintance of mine in the College Republicans has invited me and 20 other Wash U students to meet with Alberto tomorrow before his speech to ask him anything we want. I initially said "sure" to my contact, seeing this as a pretty unique opportunity to grill Gonzales on whatever I wanted. However, now I need your help and creativity to figure out what I should do!
If I go, I am concerned that I am legitimizing a torturer and all around evil person while missing a chance to protest against him outside the venue (the student protest will be taking place at the same time as our meeting). Furthermore, the idea of small, closed meetings creeps me out so I'm worried what other people would think of me for having gone. However, it could afford interesting opportunities for protest and asking provocative questions.
If I don't go, I would miss an opportunity to engage in some sort of protest action or "enhanced interrogation" of our former Attorney General. And while not going would stop me from conferring on him any sense of legitimacy, I doubt he really cares that much about that considering he so happily disregarded the Constitution in office.
This is my first Kos entry ever and I need your help! What should I do? Ideas for creative protest actions and questions are particularly welcome! Please explain why I should do what you suggest when providing your ideas. And for the record, I'm for Obama! Let's get this man in the White House so we can have John Edwards, not Alberto Gonzales as AG.
Thanks for your help!
