This thought came to mind while watching Anderson Cooper on CNN a little while ago....
I've been reading about and watching the coverage of what's happened to the Gulf Coast, and I've never felt angrier or more disgusted with the Bush Admistration. For God's sake, there a full-fledged humanitarian crisis in New Orleans directly exacerbated by Bush and his cronies' (in)actions. It shouldn't happen anywhere, but certainly NOT in the mighty US of A!
And since it's here in the US, at home, the press can't help but see it, and acknowledge it, and cover it... because the devastation of Katrina has affected them as well. I've seen and read about I don't know how many reporters that have become emotionally overwhelmed by what they're witnessing on the Gulf Coast, particularly what was allowed to happen to New Orleans.
I think that the MSM may have reached their breaking point with the Bush Administration. The press is asking "Why did this happen?", and they're showing and talking about the inhumane conditions in New Orleans-- they're not covering it up or running from it. It sounds like Bush's imcompentance (among other things) has profoundly affected many members of the press, and they realize how much of the carnage can be lain at Bush and his minions' feet.
And they're pissed.
