Yesterday, I flipped on CNN to find Hillary Clinton ranting and raving about some direct mail pieces that Obama had sent to Ohio voters and I was stunned at what I saw. I watched it again and again to make sure I got everything she implied.
Was it an unscripted spontaneous eruption of anger by an exhausted candidate or was it a planned tactic in order to draw free media attention in preparation for the next debate?
There was Hillary accusing Barack of doing such egregious, horrible things that she herself has been more guilty of throughout the entire campaign.
At the end of the previous debate in Texas, Hillary looked good. She felt honored to be on stage with Barack Obama. She looked as if she was ready to stand aside for the good of the Democratic party. But then yesterday, we saw the exact oppposite: a petty, vindictive candidate who maybe even scared the man who was standing behind her, Ohio Governor Ted Strickland.
What was interesting about her rant was that it took place on Saturday, a slow news day. MSNBC had been running documentaries all day and probably won't address the issue until Monday morning with their Ohio debate following on Tuesday.
I want to know whether this incident will cause alarm bells to go off throughout the Democratic party. What will happen tomorrow? Will we see a rush of endorsements to Barack Obama?
