I'm not sure what the protocol is for a first diary. I've been a lurker for quite some time (since the 2004 race) but this is the first time I'm posting.
The question I am concerned with in this diary is: What should Obama do on March 5th after winning Texas given that (i) the CW is that Clinton needs to win both TX and OH to have a valid argument to continue its bid for the nomination, and (ii) it seems at least likely that Clinton can win OH but lose TX to Obama and (iii) the signals from the Clinton campaign at least hint that she may try to soldier own even under this scenario?
Should Obama be the one leading the charge in terms of asking Clinton to drop out of the race? Should he let his surrogates do this? Or should he ignore Clinton and let the media and the rest of the democratic party build up the pressure for Clinton to drop out?
I tend to think that while the more aggressive first option has its perils (appearing to be mean or condescending with a candidate in her last throes), Obama can do the job in a positive way: "Voters from all over the country have spoken, they have clearly voted for hope... I call on every democrat to join this fight to regain the Presidency against the Republicans... etc. etc."
What do people think?
PS I realize the subject/tone of this diary may appear triumphalistic, especially to Clinton supporters. This is not the intent. I respect HRC's bid for the primary. But I believe the outcome discussed is a fairly likely one and I am interested in discussing what Obama's actions should be on March 6th.
