I have a question for anybody who has the answer. Do any of the pollsters make calls to cell phones? And if so, how would they do that?
We have heard a lot about how many of the pollsters have been so far off in predicting the outcome of the previous primaries and caucuses.
It is my understanding (and maybe I'm wrong) that pollsters do NOT call cell phones, only LAN phones. And if they did call cell phones, well, how could they know where those cell phone users are living? It seems to me that under these circumstances the pollsters are going to have a harder time of getting an accurate reading of public opinion.
It also seems that most younger voters have ONLY cell phones, so it seems unlikely that pollsters will include many younger voters in their sample. And if this is the case, isn't it reasonable to assume that the poll numbers for a candidate who is popular with younger voters, like Obama, will be underestimated?
Does anybody have any answers?
