After interacting with the three major sites about a couple of hours ago, after putting my daughter to bed I discovered the world wide web had suddenly never heard of John Edwards. Those websites had vanished. After a few hours the world wide web has rethought its position. The front pages are there, but none of the links are working. I'm assuming they'll get that fixed soon.
Some of his supporters have been desperately trying to encourage voters today to stand firm with Edwards and vote that way. I must confess that I felt they were suffering from denial. John made his decision, and I think he was pretty clear about what that meant. But these are good people doing what they believed in.
These sites have stayed running and there was no word from the staff about the future. Many of us who are involved with One Corps - which predates the official campaign - thought that this social action group might well succeed the presidential campaign. We even entertained the notion that John might head it as a private citizen.
This incident points out that it would be very good to let supporters know what is going to happen with these sites, and what will happen with One Corps.
Sorry for all the fuss.
