Officially, from Patti Solis Doyle:
You exceeded our $3 million goal in less than 24 hours. In fact, we've already hit FOUR MILLION DOLLARS! Incredible! And so far, more than 35,000 people -- 35,000! -- have made online contributions.
I note that some people wanted proof because they couldn't believe Hillary supporters would raise that money for her. Well, y'all are wrong.
By now I've donated twice to HRC, the first time a week or so back, the second time yesterday.
Months ago, all we ever heard about was the astonishing war chest Hillary had raised for her presidential run. What that basically told me was that my money wouldn't be needed. I think this notion settled into most people's brains. People who could give the max of $2300 had done so in droves, and I appreciate that they did that for my candidate, because that's more than I can afford. The people with more money are helping my concerns to be expressed and front-paged by our candidate.
Regarding the campaign loan, stop whining. Politicians do this all the time. If Bill Clinton just up and threw all his liquid assets into the campaign, then the campaign would be PILLORIED for it. It's important for any candidate to show deep support among small donors. Kudos to Obama for getting lots of those donors.
And now, Hillary supporters are showing that we are there for our candidate.
Another point that occurs to me - just a thought - is that Hillary has a certain amount that is earmarked for the general election. Has Obama got anything earmarked for that? And if not, if he has to return again and again to his small-donor base for money in the general election, how's that going to work for him? I hate that politics is about money, but for this election, we have to proceed with the system we have. I'm glad Hillary's got a GE war chest ready and waiting.
If this has already been made into a diary, I apologize, but I did try searching first.
UPDATE: Here's where you can donate!
