With the recent diary claiming the NYT's has Hillary Clinton ahead in the delegate count by 912 to Obama's 741, it's time the DNC took over the delegate count in this very closely contested race.
So far, the delegate counting is all over the place.
Note Meteorblade's comment in the same diary:
The New York Times site counts ... (5+ / 0-)

...207 to 163 in California. The AP counts 201 to 169.
But the truth is that 20 delegates have yet to be selected from California.
The 2008 Democratic Convention Watch site puts the total so far at:
Clinton: 842
Obama: 859
Add in endorsing super-delegates and the numbers are:
Clinton: 1060
Obama: 983
The Associated Press puts the split for Super Tuesday at:
Clinton: 794
Obama: 796
and the total with SDs at:
Clinton: 1055
Obama: 998
In other words, anybody who thinks they know how many delegates each candidate has, pledged, unpledged or otherwise, is whistling, and I don't mean "Dixie."
I really think the DNC needs to take control of this count, and be the only official and authoritative source for this information.
It should certainly NOT be CNN, the NYT OR the blogs (although, IMHO, I believe the blogs are almost assuredly the most reliable source at the present moment). But, come on, do you trust the MSM to get this right? Beyond that, do you trust the campaigns themselves?
No, the DNC should get ahead of this NOW, and be the only official source for delegate counts.
