Crain's NY Business is reporting that sources in Albany say Lt. Gov. Paterson may be sworn in as NY Gov as early as this evening.
Obviously, this is 2nd hand stuff that Crain's is reporting. But, they just sent out an e-blast to subscribers about it, so it might have some legitimacy.
Lt. Gov. Paterson is black, blind, and young. Even at "just" a symbolic level it would be an amazing thing for New York State to have David Paterson as Governor.
Time will tell if all this will come to pass. I am sure that David Paterson, should he become Governor, will wish it did not have to have come about in this way.
(For those who are into the delegate head-counting and curious, Paterson is already a pledged Sen. Clinton superdelegate.)
(At noted in earlier diaries today. GOP head of the State Senate, Joe Bruno, will temporarily perform the duties of Lt. Gov. if Paterson is sworn-in.)
