Since the Hillary Clinton's endorsement of John McCain as a candidate who is ready to be Commander-in-Chief, I've been searching for a moment in time. A place where, in McCain's lifetime of experience that he will bring to the White House, he demonstrates that he has crossed The Threshold.
That moment is here.
August 29, 2005
Fuck the Gulf Coast, I'm 69 and a want my gawddamned cake!. Not any old cake, my friends. I want the President of the United States to personally deliver it to me during time of national emergency! Got that?!!
During video conferences involving the President on August 28 and 29, the director of the National Hurricane Center at the time, Max Mayfield, expressed concern that Katrina might push its storm surge over the city's levees and flood walls. In one conference, he stated, "I do not think anyone can tell you with confidence right now whether the levees will be topped or not, but that's obviously a very, very great concern."
On August 29,[2005] Katrina's storm surge caused 53 different levee breaches in greater New Orleans submerging eighty percent of the city.

When McCain received this cake, he crossed The Threshold. This isn't just any cake received during a time of extreme national emergency. This is a cake from a President who had himself crossed The Threshold on September 11, 2001. Reading, "My Pet Goat" during a time of extreme national emergency.
This is a test of the kind of presence of mind that it takes to be Commander-in-Chief. Since this cake was delivered during a real emergency. It tells us everything we need to know about a McCain Presidency in a time of crisis. It says, Fuck the Gulf Coast, I'm 69 and a want my gawddamned cake!. Not any old cake, my friends. I want the President of the United States to personally deliver it to me during time of national emergency! Got that?!!
Emergencies don't always happen at 3 a.m.. Sometimes they happen when you're reading to kids during a photo op. Sometimes they happen on your Birthday. Whenever they happen this country will need a leader who has proven he or she has crossed The Threshold. Is ready to be Commander-in-Chief on Day One. And perhaps, when the country truly requires it, rise to the level of Decider.
John McCain will be that kind of President.
P.S. I know this was all obvious to everybody here. Just wanted to remind you.
