Seriously, thank you for the tremendous service you, your campaign and most especially your supporters are doing for the Democratic Party and our Presidential nominee, Barack H. Obama.
Thank you for using subtle race-baiting and identity politics to malign Obama's candidacy, even his legitimacy as a Senator.
Thank you for attacking his apparent lack of experience at the national and international political level.
Thank you for dismissing the relevance of more than half the voters in the Democratic primary.
Thank you for bringing up Rezko at every available opportunity.
Thank you for insinuating that Obama might not be Christian, and circulating the rumor that, horror of horrors, Obama might be a "secret" Muslim.
And most recently, thank you for letting your supporters run crazy cherry picking old statements made by Obama's pastor, and trying to use them impugn his judgment, as is currently up on the front page at MyDD.
As a Democrat and an Obama supporter, I sincerely thank you for the help you're giving us here. I beg you, keep digging up any dirt you can find, and when you can't find any, make more up and keep throwing it. For while you might be damaging him somewhat among fellow Democrats, and you might be able to keep him from doing as well as he ought to in the remaining primaries, you WON'T WIN. You stand virtually no chance of gaining even the popular vote edge in primaries, and no chance at all of gaining an edge amongst pledged delegates.
So keep it up! Because by the time the general election gets underway, you'll have used up all McCain's talking points. The Republicans will have nothing else to throw at him that's not even more ridiculous than the crap you've already spread. They'll be old news, and all that will remain is Obama, with a groundbreaking grassroots 50 state strategy, pre-existing organizations in every major swing state and quite a few red ones, and a message of political unity that does not rely on capitulation.
Oh, and by the way, thank you for one more thing. Thank you for campaigning with such vitriol and sort-sightedness that you have assured your political irrelevance, and more importantly, the irrelevance of those who support you and the type of politics you and your DLC allies engage in. It was a hard-fought battle, and you and yours were quite entrenched. But in the end, you managed to do the only thing Democrats of your ilk have ever been good at: snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Markos considers the effort to build a 50 state, progressive party out of the Democrats to be a long term project. Thank you for taking at least a decade off that timeline.
