I realize that everyone and their brother has had an opinion on Obama's speech. I will be no different, but please bear with me on this. was it historic? Yes. Was it necessary? Yes. But the pundits in MSM have another view.
First of all, the media is giving the viewers sound bites that they feel are significant. Bullsh*t! Listen or read the entire speech, there is far more to it than those damn sound bites.
I have listened to the pundits explain the speech and some say it will not help him with blue collar white men in the short run. Some say, and Joe Scarborough of MSNBC is the most vocal, that the blue collar white workers in Pennsylvania will not be moved by his speech. Basically because thy feel that blacks have gotten a free ride on their backs. And they feel that they are the ones being discriminated against by government programs.
All this is true and Scarborough has said it well. He has said that these voters will most likely vote McCain if Obama is the nominee. He is very passionate on his criticism of Obama. But Joe has omitted one thing that no one in the Dem Party wants to talk about. It is RACISM, plain and simple, that blacks get all the government because of their skin color. Everyone was looking for him to throw his pastor under the bus, when he did not they started the point that he did not help his candidacy in Pennsylvania. Personally, I thought that his explanation of the pastor was adequate and no more needs to be said.
The only way Obama would get this vote is if he was to change the color of his shin, something that he cannot achieve. Most are too timid to frame it in that context. The pundits want to make the voter feel that it is more complex than that. It is not--It is RACISM!
Obama is overcoming a mound of crap on his way to the nomination. He should be commended for his approach to the election. But unfortunately, the blue collar white worker in Pennsylvania has already made up his mind where to put his vote. The white voter has also decided where to put their vote. Both have the same reason--the color of a candidate's skin.
It is sad, it is pathetic and the blue collar, white democratic voter is afraid of the future. How sad.
