Yesterday, Hillary tried to pass off her Bosnia misstatement as a single mistatement. Jed has aleady come up with numerous other instances where Hillary made the same false claim. It is clear that she made the false statement in Iowa as well. Updated: Have Video!
I found this little note from the Washington Post that indicates that Hillary also "misspoke" in Iowa in Dubuque in December. The Washington Post reported that she said the following at a stop in Dubuque, Iowa:
To listen to her tell it, she brought peace to Northern Ireland ("I went to Northern Ireland more than my husband did"), parachuted into the hottest of the world's hotspots ("If it's too dangerous, too small and too poor, send the first lady") and improved U.S. ties with the other countries ("I was part of the diplomatic team that conveyed America's values across the world").
She said she saved Kosovar refugees by persuading Macedonia to reopen its border. And in a direct jab back at Obama, she recalled visiting Bosnia on a plane that made a tight corkscrew landing to avoid potential attacks. "Somebody said there might be sniper fire," she said, adding tartly, "I don't remember anyone offering me tea on the tarmac."
Since all major campaign events in Iowa were subject to extensive coverage, my guess we can find an unedited version of what she actually said on tape. I have looked but cannot find anything. The Washington Post report is from December 29, 2007. It would be great if somebody could find something and give it to Jed so that he can post a complete update. This is a pattern of deception.
UPDATE: WE HAVE VIDEO
Thanks to leftilicious, here is the link to the video. You should really watch the video because she lies even more than the Washington Post story indicates.
