This is my first diary AND I have 3 essays do for school...so this is going to be done quickly and will probably be a little muddled.

People opposed to boycotting the olympics keep bringing up the 1980 boycott of the Moscow games, and how the boycott was innefectual,(although that hasn't stopped how many years of boycotts against Cuba..but I digress) instead of bringing up Germany in 1936--and how the games gave legitimacy to the Nazi regime., and resulted in
Leni Riefenstahl's "Olympia". To allow China to have this giant propoganda is crap. a promise to make progress on human rights and open the country to world media coverage was central to China's Olympic bid, The fact that the IOC is now claiming that the olympics are not political. (Hey Hillary we found a job perfectly suited to you)
French President Nicolas Sarkozy has talked about boycotting the opening ceremonies--which is good,call for a boycott of the Beijing olympics would be kind of pot calling kettle black if it originated from George Bush.
I don't know why the olympics couldn't be moved to another city, or shared amongst several.
Tibet, Sudan, Burma, the Falun Gong... This is the only time the rest of the world will have any kind of bargaining chip
