I just wanted to point you all to this article on abcnews.com that discusses the excitement felt by people around the world concerning this presidential election in the USA – and particularly, for Obama.
Small World After All: Obama-Clinton Battle Stirs Global Debate
From this small sampling of voices from around the world – from Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia – I’m not sure how any of us can dismiss the potential impact of an Obama presidency on the restoration of America’s prestige, reputation, and symbolic power. This is not a new concept, I realize, as Andrew Sullivan, among others, has been cheerleading for Obama since he entered the race for this very reason. The "face" of America may seem like a trite concept to you and I and your average American dealing with a struggling economy, the loss of jobs overseas, a deeply flawed healthcare system, and a mortgage crisis. But the Face of America to the rest of the world is incredibly important in terms of America’s "soft power" and ability to maintain favorable conditions without resorting to force.
I also encourage you to read this article from a November issue of The New York Times Magazine:
"Is (His) Biography (Our) Destiny?"
Those of you who are still "on the fence" or barely leaning one way or the other, please consider this.
