The current primary season has left me beat up.
I am tired.
I am tired of the in fighting, bickering, spin, lies, punches, and counter-punches.
I am tired of the polls.
I am tired of the anticipation.
Walk with me if you will over the jump.
When this presidential campaign season started this time last year it was cute, fun, and exciting. We were that much closer to getting rid of Bush and it felt good.
It felt damn good.
It was exciting to watch the debates this summer and fall and see a stage full of capable well qualified excellent Democratic candidates.
Man those were the days.
Then something happened.
Iowa happened.
All bets are off.
We went from saying we have a bunch of great candidates, to we have three great candidates, to two great candidates.
Can you still honestly say with great confidence that we still have two great candidates?
Democrats don't slam democrats in the primary and give fodder to the republicans for the GE. We as a party can not continue this in-fighting, it is not healthy. This must come to an end so we can have time to heal as a community and as a party. Dragging this primary out will do no one good.
I know some of you Hillary Supporters may not see this the way I do. But, it is time to come to grips with reality. Hilliary Clinton can not continue this race. The longer she attacks and Obama counters we are allowing the republicans to coalesce and gain a strategic advatage.
She should suspend her campaign, if by the summer Obama has some unseemly scandal she is back in business. But she should not provide the ammo.
Talking about a Benedict Arnold.
My goodness.
My grand dad an old union steel worker here in Illinois, gave all of us instructions on how to vote before we turned 18. He said
Dammit find the guy with the "D" behind his name and pull the G*Damn lever
In my house like so many other houses you pull the lever for the guy or in this case gal with the "D" behind their name. In the recent past, the precinct captain came to your house and brought you a turkey for Thanksgiving. The democratic machine in Chicago is alive and well. Back in those days it was easy to tell the difference between a democrat and a republican.
Now not so much.
We need a unified party for November. The damage to our country by the Bush administration is real. The damage McCain will continue to do is real. They have to be stopped. We will be in no position to stop them if we keep fighting each other.
We will all be battle fatigued.
Scarred, bruised, beat-up, feelings hurt, pissed off, and disappointed.
We all need a group hug.
If Hilliary Clinton is the leader that she claims to be she will help the democrats win in November and put an end to the bickering and in-fighting.
Country, Party, Self
We are all democrats. We all want a more progressive society. But will we sell our souls to get it?
