I'm sure to hear about how the delegates alloted by the convention system (or "caucuses") don't count. So after my own experience at the precinct convention and county convention, I've concluded the following below the fold:
- Hundreds of my neighbors showing up in my local elementary school at 7 pm AFTER already voting once DOESN'T COUNT.
- These hundreds of my neighbors waiting for 1-2 hours to go through the process of certifying as a voter so they could write in their candidate DOESN'T COUNT.
- DOZENS of these neighbors waiting around for an additional 1-2 hours to volunteer to vote a third time a few weeks later DOESN'T COUNT.
- These neighbors all meeting 2-3 times to talk about the county convention, the race and their own political views, each 1-2 hours, DOESN'T COUNT.
- These neighbors leaving their homes at 6:30 am, carpooling together, stuck in a traffic jam getting in, and arriving at 9 am to wait in line DOESN'T COUNT.
- These neighbors waiting in line for an hour to get a badge and get in DOESN'T COUNT.
- These neighbors going around the convention floor and seeing dozens of stands with information about local candidates, local issues and global issues DOESN'T COUNT.
- These neighbors sitting around eager for hours wondering when they'd have the chance to vote DOESN'T COUNT.
- These neighbors talking to other neighbors, both Obama and Clinton supporters DOESN'T COUNT.
- These neighbors wondering whether their precincts would be challenged and having a sigh of relief when their precinct number isn't called for a challenge DOESN'T COUNT.
- These neighbors having to eat overpriced junk food or nothing all day DOESN'T COUNT.
- These neighbors finally voting at 4 pm and only taking 10 minutes to vote because they worked everything out in a way that makes Obama and Clinton supporters happy given the county delegate numbers DOESN'T COUNT.
My guess is the state convention counts even less.
