Yesterday Barack Obama had this to say about Hillary Clinton dropping out of the race:
"Her name is on the ballot. She is a fierce and formidable opponent, and she obviously believes she would make the best nominee and the best president."
I haven't seen it mentioned here and thought it might be of interest to some people, as it is to me, because it shows something of the nature (and appeal) of Mr. Obama.
I supported John Edwards at the beginning of the primary season because I believe he was the most progressive candidate with a chance to win but I've been very impressed with Barack Obama's candidacy. It seems to me he spends more time going after John McCain than Hillary Clinton, as a Democrat should. I feel Hillary has done more attacking of Barack than vice-versa but that may be a consequence of her current runner-up status.
At the same press conference as the above quote, in Johnstown, PA, he also said:
"You know, there’s no doubt that among some of my supporters or some of her supporters, there’s probably been some irritation created," he said. "You can’t tell me that some of my supporters are going to say, well, we’d rather have the guy who may want to stay in Iraq for a hundred years because we’re mad that Senator Clinton ran a negative ad against Senator Obama. And I think the converse is true as well."
There's a lot of heat around here lately from people more angry at a Democrat candidate than the Republicans. Let's not forget which party has caused so much damage to our country over the last 28 years and keep our focus where it should be. I think Barack Obama has the right attitude here.
