There is at least one thing that most Democrats and Republicans agree on.
The recent Gallup poll taken March 24-27 shows that most Democrats and Republicans agree that Obama is the tougher Democratic Party opponent to McCain.
Interestingly a majority of Democrats also feel that this drawn out nomination process is doing more harm than good.
These results go against the claims that Hillary Clinton is the stronger opponent against McCain, and that the longer drawn-out primary Democratic Party campaign is good for the party.
As the discussions about who would be a stronger opponent to McCain in the general elections, and whether the drawn out primary process is hurting the Democratic Party's chance in November generate a lot of heat, it is useful to look at the recent results from a Gallup poll of a nationally representative sample of 1005.
The Gallup poll taken from March 24th to 27th, 2008 shows the following results:
59 percent of Democrats said that Obama would have the better chance against McCain in GE. Only 30 percent say the same for Hillary Clinton.
64 percent of Republican said that John McCain would have a better chance to win against Clinton. Only 22 percent said Obama would be the weaker Democrat.
