While watching late night television this evening, my favorite show was interrupted for a news break coming live from a boat in the middle of the Pacific. After a few minutes of speculation by Tucker Carlson, who was for some reason chosen to report live from the boat, Al Gore appeared at a podium, making the announcement that many of us have waited for a long time to hear.
Full story below the fold. Suffice it to say, Obama's got no chance now!
Yes, something we've all been waiting for. Al Gore has formally announced his bid for the Presidency in a complete reversal from his previous statements saying that he would not enter the Democratic race. Furthermore, he has declared premature victory as the presumptive nominee, and chosen Keith Olbermann as his Vice Presidential running-mate. Live from the boat:
I do believe that I, uh, that Keith and I, can be there for America in 2008. We will put the carbon emissions in a lock box, rebuild the polar ice caps, and create a true liberal media.
The crowd of reporters is really cheering loudly now and he's had to stop talking. He almost looks a little teary-eyed. They're all quieting down and he's starting to talk again:
I will run on a platform of rolling back the environmental changes and taxes for the rich we have seen recently, undoing the war in Iraq with my patented un-war time machine, and upgrading the Internet to an unprecedented version 2.0. Since Mr. Olbermann and I have already decided that we have won the nomination, we will be entering office any day now, since we'll certainly beat McCain anyway. Senator Edwards will be joining us as Attorney General, Senator Obama will be appointed Secretary of State, and Senator Clinton will be our new Secretary of Defense. Additionally, we have decided to ask Mr. Gravel to be our new Secretary of the Interior, and Representative Kucinich will be Secretary of Agriculture. Senator Dodd will be Secretary of Energy, and Senator Biden will be Secretary of Transportation. Thank you all, and God bless America!
