Time to relax.
Coming into last night Obama led Clinton in pledged delegates by a huge margin, 160 delegates. (1202-1042) Superdelegates were 238 to 194 in favor of Hillary but if Tom Brokaw is right, the superdelegate count is about to even up.
Prior to last night, Obama won 11 states in a row. On Super Tuesday, Obama won 13 of 22 states. Obama was 24 for 33.
Last night Hillary won Rhode Island while Barack won Vermont. In Ohio, Hillary had a solid 10 point victory. In Texas, Hillary narrowly won the primary. The caucus is too close to call. So what does this mean?
It's very simple. The clock has run out on Hillary Clinton. She needed 60% in Ohio and Texas just to stay alive. She came nowhere close.
As of now, only ten states remain although I'd like to make it 12 by having real votes in Florida and Michigan where the delegates can be seated. Hillary can continue to run a campaign where character wise she acts like Bush and Karl Rove but it won't work. Just look at the math? There is no way for her to catch up. The superdelegates will not overturn the democratic vote and her sinister plans to steal Florida and Michigan will not be permitted.
Of course Hillary will try to Turn Up The Cheat and illegally seat Florida from a non binding vote. Of course she wants to seat 100% of the Michigan delegates for her even though she barely got 50% of the vote running against uncommitted. She is staying in the race because she plans to cheat.
Despite Hillary's attempt to cheat, she still won't win. If she had any honor or decency left, she would go on record as supporting votes in Michigan and Florida sometime in the next few weeks and pledge that if she is behind in pledged delegates after Puerto Rico that she will concede to Obama. But don't count on her doing the right thing although if she came out and did these two simple things, I will capitulate and agree to hold my nose and vote for her if she were the nominee.
It's because of Hillary's lack of moral character that most Democrats are choosing Obama over Clinton. Obama believes all 50 states are significant. Obama believes it doesn't matter what your skin color or gender is. Obama will take this message into Wyoming and Mississippi where he will regain his pre-March 4th margin. By the time Pennsylvania rolls around, Hillary would need to win 90% of the vote there just to get back within striking distance. But even if she won Pennsylvania, Obama will carry on and win in places like North Carolina, Oregon, and elsewhere.
Thus far Obama has won most of the swing battleground states (Iowa, Colorado, Missouri, Virginia, Wisconsin) and his fair share of big and medium size states (Illinois, Virginia, Georgia, Missouri, Washington, Wisconsin). And Obama has done it with class and honor, without bringing up the voluminous amount of scandals (fair or unfair) that are associated with the Clintons.
So relax and take a deep breath. Barack Obama will be the democratic nominee and he will crush John Bush McCain in the general.
