The party primaries were held today in Louisiana's 6th District, a longtime Republican bastion. On the Republican side, with 500 of 512 precincts reporting, Woody Jenkins, a Republican with ties to the religious Right and connections to David Duke and Amway, is close to winning the party primary outright, although it's an issue of less than 500 votes at this point. On the Democratic side, two sitting state legislators are headed for a runoff. Don Cazayoux has 35%, and Michael Jackson has 27%.
The story here, though, is that with 500 of 512 precincts reporting in this Republican incumbent district, the Democrats have 17,000 more voters than the Republicans. We can win this seat!
